Texas Buddhist Association (TBA), a non-profit organization founded in 1978
that has more than 1,500 members, is building a temple and
retreat center in see Google Map Waller County (near Houston, download map). With ground breaking ceeremony in 2005, the American Bodhi Center (ABC), one of the largest
Buddhist developments in the nation. Within two years, the Waller
County site will feature a retreat center and short-term living

May 2, 2009 Grand Opening
The American Bodhi Center will include- the Grand Buddha Hall,
Meditation Hall, Meditation Retreat Forest, Buddhist Live-in Community
Quarters, Administration Building, Buddhist College, Community
Activities Building, Outdoor Activity and Camping Areas, Multimedia
Publishing House, Zen Garden, Memorial Park and Organic Garden. Rev. Hung I, abbott of Jade Buddha Temple in Houston and vice president
of the Texas Buddhist Association, said that TBA
strives to adapt Buddhism to modern American life while maintaining
respect for traditional Buddhist practice. 'We are creating a new 'Texas' traditions for Texas Buddhists," he said.
The
Concept of the American Bodhi

The center is dotted
with rolling hills and brooks and is full of geographical variety. It will serve
as a cultural, educational, and altruistic activity center of Buddhism.
The Bodhi Center
will consist of a number of buildings with various functions. The Zen Hall will be place for meditation. The Buddhist
College, a place of
learning. The quiet forest will
accommodate either individual or groups retreat. The outdoor activity area will be used for recreational
gatherings, camping, and picnics. The
Memorial Park will be a park for towers (stupas) in memory of loved ones who have passed
away.
We plan to preserve much of the forest
land allow our facility to be surrounded by the beauty of nature.
